Top EDM News :: June 2 to June 8

Share

A week goes by fast, and that means you need to catch up.

Here are the top news articles in the EDM world from Monday to Sunday.

Bye Bye SoundCloud, Says Kaskade

American DJ and producer Ryan Raddon, otherwise known as Kaskade, announced on Twitter that he will be leaving SoundCloud.

70% of his songs were swiftly removed from his SoundCloud on June 4. Why did this happen? Spite, of course. Kaskade received 32 copyright emails in less than 48 hours from the company stating, “Our automatic content protection system has detected that your upload, ‘[insert song name here],’ may contain copyright that is copyrighted.”

Kaskade is now working on creating his own music platform where he can upload remixes, sets, and original tracks.

On Tumblr, he further stated, “Countless artists have launched their careers though mash ups, bootlegs, remixes and music sharing. These laws and page take-downs are cutting us down at the knees. And yo, musicians definitely need knees.” You can read his full post here.

This comes right after Twitter announced interest in buying SoundCloud, a deal that may cause copyright infringement policies to be stressed even more on the website.

Kaskade will delete his SoundCloud account soon, so see what you can scavenge over here while there’s still time!

Donate to Wolf Beats Fundraiser for Desso

Please support Desso in the link below.
Russian-based producer Desso was recently taken to the hospital for an MRI. Doctors found that he not only had a kidney infection, but also an Arachnoid cyst found in his neck, reported edm.com.

There is the threat that the cyst may damage his spinal cord and brainstem if it pops before he undergoes extensive surgery. The surgery is costly, and it will make it nearly impossible for the producer to support himself on such a tight budget.

Currently, artists like Silva Hound and Nitrofun are working towards raising money through their releases.

Support Desso by donating to a fundraiser hosted by Wolf Beats on their website here.

New 9 Minute Song From Deadmau5’s Upcoming Album

The mouse commands all.
We’ve already ranted and raved about Deadmau5 releasing “Avaritia” and “Seeya” for his upcoming new album, while (1<2), but we’ve yet to do so for a new 9 minute and 35 second track titled, “Infra Turbo Pigcart Racer.”

Deadmau5 released the single on Rolling Stone.

This comes just before Deadmau5 began his motorway adventure on Gumball 3000, a road race starting in Miami and up to New York City before being flown to Europe to drive through Paris, Barcelona, and, of course, Ibiza. What else could Deadmau5 drive in for this road race except a Nyan Cat Ferrari?

See the full tracklist for while (1<2) here.

Listen to his new single below:

The album comes out on June 17.

And One More Thing, Mau5 Fans,
Deadmau5 2015 Tour Will Be “Bigger Than Bon Jovi”

while (Bon Jovi < Deadmau5)

As fans gear themselves up for Deadmau5’s new while (1<2) double album on June 17, Deadmau5 discussed his upcoming tour with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe.

As Deadmau5 put it, “This one’s going to be a doozy.” Expect a lot of money put into this tour with 16 trucks worth of set up and the top production companies involved.

He compared his upcoming tour to Bon Jovi, except, “This is going to be even bigger.” He goes so far as to refer to it as his “selfish tour” with the amount of money and ambition involved in this tour.

His new tour is on a five to six year plan with a lot of plans for tech-development. Maybe a new Mau5 head? We’ll see.

Information Released on Upcoming Knife Party Album

Whatever. Just take your time. It's not like we're getting any younger here.

It’s not too much information, but it’s enough to hold us over for now I guess.

Australia-based duo Knife Party announced on Twitter that 9 out of 12 tracks of their new album have been completed, “Abandon Ship.”

Rob Swire stated that the May would be the “album-finishing month,” but of, course, it’s June, and it’s still unseen.

In the words of Rob Swire, the album will be “coming to a whatever near you, whenever we finish it.”

Who’s the Master Now, Ticketmaster?
See why Ticketmaster Had to Agree to $400 Million Settlement

Swiper no swiping.

Ticketmaster has agreed to a tentative $400 million settlement in a class action lawsuit to over 500 million ticket buyers.

What’s the issue? How about fees that didn’t go anywhere except Ticketmaster’s pockets? Consumers were charged “order-processing fees” and a UPS “delivery fees” that the company didn’t spend their money on.

Billboard reported that those ticket buyers who purchased tickets with an “order-processing fee” on the website from Oct. 21, 1999 through Feb. 27, 2013 are eligible for discounts on future purchases due to this settlement.

The lawsuit was originally filed in 2003 by five ticket-buying plaintiffs.

Expect some clarified language on their website to state that the money may include a profit for Ticketmaster.
